Stream & buy Elephant Path – ‘Keep Walking’
Hot off the back of his debut album ‘Expectations’, which made waves charting at #155 on the NACC Radio Charts in the US, Elephant Path returns with a new EP ‘Keep Walking’ – 4 brand new songs opening a running series of upcoming EP’s set to showcase what an all-encompassing singer-songwriter he is. Keep Walking’s blues infused rock & roll via lush acoustics continues to explore topics of love and experience as Elephant Path opens a new chapter of his journey so far.
Elephant Path is a native of California who spent many formative years in Louisville, Kentucky – which is where he first laid musical roots, first as a full band, before striking out on his own as he has become a solo studio-based project pursuing the creation of a catalog of records; building a world for the latest incarnation of Elephant Path to exist in, with a long-awaited debut album ‘Expectations’ released in the summer or 2023, he has already returned with new music, a reflection of his prolific output which is only set to continue through to early 2024 and possibly beyond and he works on new music at his home studio in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The beginning of his journey was boosted locally, whilst Elephant Path was based in Kentucky, as after touring locally for a few years, then as a full band, they landed local radio playlist rotation on WFPK and a slot on their prominent ‘Live Lunch’ series, an invite only streamed event reserved for the best of local bands. This led to a further local showcase at the Mercury Ballroom, which is one of the biggest and most prestigious venues in Louisville, and a first festival appearance at Brouhaha in New Albany, Indiana. Stints in Delafaye’s touring band followed before he shifted city and began to project a new future for Elephant Path.
Now on his new label home, Street Mission Records, he has found an outlet for the constant stream of new music he has, with the mantra of “Always serving the song”, the songs on ‘Keep Walking’ can only belong together, flowing seamlessly and complementing each other. The new record is split between two more upbeat, bluesy guitar riff driven songs, and two acoustic guitar lead songs that are more reminiscent of Elephant Path’s early influences such as Wilco, Elliott Smith, and The Shins.
Title track ‘Keep Walking’ is inspired by Elephant Path’s Midwest experience, referencing driving on a highway to forget about everything going on, as a form of escapism. While the EP as a whole captures the essence of the region’s diverse music scene. It’s a celebration of musical camaraderie, echoing the spirit of musicians he encountered during his time there. It explores the differences between the artists’ upbringings, both on the West Coast growing up near the beach and when he moved to the Midwest where he spent almost a decade before returning to Salt Lake City.
