Ricky Lewis is a singer and songwriter based in Brooklyn by way of New England. He cut his teeth as singer and primary writer for the band Dear Lions before striking out on his own. His debut solo record, See You in the Morning, was released in late 2018 and championed by Stereogum, Paste, and various other outlets. He has toured opening for Matthew Logan Vasquez, Matt Pond PA, Noah Gundersen, and others.
Ricky has now returned with ‘Perfect Light (Jimmy’s Song)’, a song about Ricky Lewis’ uncle, who passed away way too soon. An experience that hit Ricky and his family hard but also jolted him into action in a song writing sense, as it sparked inspiration and lead to it becoming the first completed song of a new batch of songs that will eventually go on to form Ricky Lewis’ return EP, which we can expect this fall. ‘Jimmy’s Song’ represents Ricky Lewis’ first new original song since the release of his debut album ‘See You in the Morning’ in 2018 and serves as a more than fitting tribute as Ricky reflects and writes about the experience, casting light on it and transforming it into something more hopeful or beautiful while interjecting a few of his own thoughts on mortality.
